Owners of French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pocket Bullies, Pugs, Pomeranians and Chihuahuas are filmed in the daily handling and care of their dogs. It becomes clear that the dogs are having health problems; breathing problems because of noses that are too short, eyes that are too big in skulls that are too small, etc. Some operations and examinations were filmed in a Specialist Animal Hospital.
We see the world from the dog’s point of view: “I am overloaded with love and care, but feel discomfort, pain and stress”. It becomes more and more clear that there is a big difference between the good intentions of the owner and the actual welfare of the animal.
The film is without any commentary, text, or voice-over. By showing the contrast between love and suffering, questions are posed to the viewer about the appeal of owning a dog breed with extreme physical features.
