Layer hen hatchery: chick on a conveyor belt, ready for inspection. The chicks are sorted by hand for defects. After falling off the belt, this chick will continue its journey to another farm to become a laying hen. In the same hatchery, all male chicks are gassed to be used as fodder for animals in zoos, pet shops, etc.
